Townsville Chamber of Commerce (ABN 14 182 520 784) is bound by the National Privacy Principles, the Corporations Act 2001 and the Privacy Act 1988 in regards to the management of information and privacy legislation.

The Chamber collects personal information including but is not limited to your business name, your name, address, telephone and facsimile numbers, e-mail address, website address and business activity.  The primary purpose for collecting personal information is to allow the Chamber to inform of its various activities and provide information on business related issues which would be of interest to the business community.  The Chamber only uses and discloses information about you in ways that are related to the reason we collected the information and which you would reasonably expect to happen.  We take reasonable steps to check that at the time we collect your information that it is accurate, complete and up to date. 

The Chamber uses information for certain purposes including but not limited to

  • Your personal information may be disclosed to other financial members of the Chamber only;
  • Some details, like business name, phone number and website, will be included in listings on the Chamber’s website;
  • Distribute information to you via mail or facsimile, or e-mail on the Chamber’s function and events;
  • Provide information via mail or facsimile, e-mail or other electronic media on business issues and events which would be of interest to the business community at large;
  • Distribute notices to you via mail or facsimile, e-mail, or other electronic media related to the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting;
  • Distribute the Chamber’s Newsletter to via mail, facsimile, e-mail, or other electronic media
  • Distribute promotional material from other financial members to you;
  • Distribute information on business seminars or conferences which are supported by the Chamber.
  • We will keep your information safe when it is in use and dispose of it securely if you terminate your membership with us.

You may be sent material, including marketing material, approved by the Chamber Executive Committee in addition to general communications.  For any query in relation to the above or to elect not to receive marketing material, contact the office of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce.

Under the National Privacy Principles, you can access the personal information that we hold about you and obtain information about how the Chamber manages your information.  You have the right to request that we correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.  If you wish to do so, please contact the office of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce.
