Lexus of Townsville Sun City Open Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of June, Townsville Tenpin & Fun Centre hosted Australia’s richest tenpin bowling tournament.
The event attracted participants and supporters from most Australian states and one from the UK, bringing in valuable tourist dollars to our beautiful city for the three-day period.
The top 2 male (1. Jarrod Langford QLD, 2. Sam Cooley NSW) and top 2 female (1. Rebecca Whiting VIC, 2. Bec Martin VIC) Australian ranked bowlers were among the elite bowlers competing in the tournament.
Two Townsville bowlers, Chloe Jones and Lilly Wilson, gained invaluable experience participating in this event alongside many of Australia’s best bowlers and they will take this experience with them when they both represent Australia in Hong Kong for the World Youth Championships in July (Lilly Wilson) and 2019 Asian Championships in Kuwait in October (Chloe Jones).
We are pleased to have had the opportunity to showcase not only our sport, but also our city to our visitors by way of a first-class tournament.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that our major sponsor Lexus of Townsville have again committed as major sponsor for 2020. A minimum prize fund of $28,000.00, will be offered in 2020.
The weekend was hugely successful, and we would like to thank all our Local sponsors: Lexus of Townsville, C.L.S Constructions, Struddys, Gracie Signs, Hodkinson Accounting and Campbells Kitchen Cabinets, who worked in partnership with Townsville Tenpin to create a memorable event.
