TAFE Queensland has strengthened its relationship with the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, becoming a corporate partner after years of continued membership. The partnership brings two likeminded organisations closer together and supports TAFE Queensland’s vision to find new ways to improve regional prosperity and development.

TAFE Queensland is dedicated to providing the greater Townsville region with flexible, equal learning opportunities and industry-relevant training, which are vital components to building skilled workforces in line with our region’s present and future economic needs.

As an organisation that supports the local business community, the Townsville Chamber sees the partnership with TAFE Queensland as an asset for the whole community.

“It will allow us to keep supporting the businesses we serve” says Marie-Claude Brown, Chamber Executive Officer.

As a member, TAFE Queensland leveraged off the opportunities the Chamber offered, including networking and engaging with Townsville business and industry, promoting its courses and training and keeping informed of developments.

TAFE Queensland has also been an active participant in discussions which affect the region, including recent round table discussions about the role of education in employment outcomes and the issue of youth unemployment.

The corporate partnership will allow TAFE Queensland to form new networks and working relationships with Townsville Chamber members. TAFE Queensland looks forward to being able to reach a wider range of local businesses, community groups and government agencies and working with them to provide customised, innovative, practical and hands-on training solutions.

“In our discussions over the years, TAFE Queensland maintained a genuine interest in supporting positive employment outcomes through education” says Marie-Claude.

By gaining a deeper understanding of the needs of employers, TAFE Queensland will better prepare its students for employment.

“Local students finding meaningful local work is the best way to grow our city” says Marie-Claude

“We are humbled TAFE Queensland selected the Townsville Chamber as a partner in this journey.”
