Helping Townsville to Go Local in 2021
As we rebuild our economy, it is critical for us, as a community, to Go Local now more than ever. We believe that to go local, we must all think, support, and celebrate local. In 2021 we developed a series of events and opportunities designed to champion and profile our members and the local business community of Townsville.
Go Local: Behind The Scenes Tours
Our Go Local Behind The Scenes tours have been an excellent opportunity to see how local organisations operate. We enjoyed events at Port of Townsville, Townsville Ten Pin Bowling and Fun Centre, JCU Cyclone Testing Centre and School of Engineering and the studios of Southern Cross Austereo, where attendees met local leaders behind the business and learnt about their contribution to the wider community.
They were also great networking opportunities with business leaders, workplace tours, business history, future projects and insights on how they conduct business in the current environment.
Go Local Publication: Celebrating Business Through Local Stories
We created the 2020-2021 Go Local Business Milestones and Supplier Toolkit Publication.
- With over 50 pages about doing business in North Queensland
- Over 50 pages of tips, links and information to help SMEs connect with big businesses
- An opportunity to celebrate local businesses who have been trading for more than 10 years
- At least 2,000 copies have been distributed to local businesses across North Queensland
Go Local Educational Series: Chamber on Tap
Go Local Chamber on Tap, is a new educational series designed to promote critical thought on behavioural change, with topics such as the psychology of purchasing, consumer behaviour and the economic multiplier effect of going local. You can hear about more from the guest presenters at these events on our Podcast series Townsville ChamberCast.
