With over 900 employees and more than 200 specialists, the Mater is a key contributor to the regional economy, providing jobs for locals and atracting more medical specialists to the city.
A New Era for Mater in North Queensland
In 2019, the Mater Private Hospital Townsville entered into a new era under the Mater brand.
The rebranding of Mater Private Hospital Townsville aligns with the delivery of a 10 year Master Plan, which will enhance services offered to the North Queensland region through a $100 million Master Plan Investment.
This includes a $50 million redevelopment project delivering a new x-ray facility, four new digital operating theatres and a new modern day surgery unit; and the relocation and rebuilding of the Materity and Special Care Nursery.
Further proving their dedication to meeting the changing needs of the community, Mater is also introducing their Mater Education Diploma of Nursing from 2020. Students in the program will be offered a unique onsite learning experience integrating contemporary theoretical knowledge with best practice clinical skills. The course is delivered within the Mater with world-class clinical simulation facilities, highly qualified teachers and opportunities for workplace experience placement.
