Something for Everyone at Tors Drive In Cinema

30 January, 2020, Posted By tvlchamber

Tors Drive In Cinema are screening both doubles from last week-end again this week, so this will be your last chance to catch Dolittle & The Addams Family on the main screen, and two classic Westerns on the second screen.

Tors Drive In is a cash only venue, and please do not bring in outside food as the cafe will be open with very competitive prices – in fact many patrons have quite rightly commented that they can enjoy a night of movies and eat here for less than the price of most takeaway!  Please visit the website to download the menu.  Ticket sales alone cannot cover the very high operating expenses at the beloved Tors Drive In, so the team rely on canteen sales to remain open.  The team at Tors thank you for your co-operation in anticipation.

SCREEN 1:

* 90.5 FM Dolby Digital sound through your radio or device, or use the old school speakers if you prefer
* Walk-in patrons are welcome, and there is seating available in the foyer

* The biggest screen in town by far – an immersive experience beneath a wide ceiling of twinkling stars that you won’t see in the city!

* Cafeteria selling delicious, affordable meals, with a variety of snacks at low prices; including retro favourites and GF items

DOLITTLE (PG) then THE ADDAMS FAMILY (PG)

Final Screenings:

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights – 31st January, 1st & 2nd February, 2020

Robert Downey Jr. electrifies one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: Dolittle, screening first. After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley, Wild Rose) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures. The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Dunkirk’s Harry Collett) and a raucous coterie of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla (Oscar® winner Rami Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Oscar® winner Octavia Spencer), and more laughable characters!

Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about this creepy and kooky clan. You may think your family is weird but the outlandish, bizarre, and completely iconic Addams Family, will have you thinking again. The cast includes Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll with Bette Midler and Allison Janney.

SCREEN 2:

* The second biggest screen in town
* FM 88.5 – tune in through your device or car radio
* Old school speakers or stereo surround sound in the foyer
* Watch from the comfort and privacy of your own car, or use the seating available in the foyer
* Walk-in patrons are most welcome
* The only authentic film projection around of especially selected, and rare 16mm and 35mm prints.
* Only $7.50 all ages for double features on this screen – retro movies @ retro prices!

RANCH NIGHTS: THE QUICK GUN (PG) then THE DESPERADOS! (M)

Final Screenings:

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights – 31st January, 1st & 2nd February, 2020

In The Quick Gun, Clint Cooper (Audie Murphy, To Hell and Back) is a gunslinger who returns to his hometown after a two year absence with the hopes that his sweetheart, schoolteacher Helen Reed (Merry Anders, Tickle Me), has waited for him. The townsfolk aren’t happy to have him in their midst, even though he helps fight off a gang of outlaws led by a former gun-slinging pal. Can Clint win back his girl, the trust of his neighbors, and settle down to a life of peace and quiet on his own land or will he live long enough to even have the chance? Sidney Salkow (The Great Sioux Massacre, Blood on the Arrow) directs this action-packed western, photographed in Cinemascope and presented in its full, widescreen aspect ratio, which also features James Best (Sounder), Ted de Corsia (The Killing) and Walter Sande (A Place in the Sun).

In The Desperados, a family of Confederate guerrillas continue to plunder, loot, and kill long after the Civil War has ended. One of the sons breaks with the family in revolt against its viciousness and goes to Texas to make a new life. Six years later, his family arrives to plunder his town.  Jack Palance, Vince Edwards, Sylvia Syms and Kate O’Mara star in this action packed western.

Next week: Shaun The Sheep: Farmageddon with Playmobil and a couple of Brat Pack 80s classics on the second screen.
