Townsville Small Business Financial Advice from Gerard Byrne

The Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland (RFCSNQ) delivers the Australian and Queensland Government’s Rural Financial Counselling Service programme (RFCS) in the Northern Queensland region including, and north of the local government areas of Barcoo, Longreach, Barcaldine and Issac.

The Small Business Financial Councellor programme offers a wide range of services to support small businesses suffering financial hardship as the result of drought and the flooding event of February 2019.

The service is an initiative of the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and supported and delivered by Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland Inc. Service is free, confidential and funded by the Australian Government. Covers economic hardship, as well as the impact of severe weather in early 2019.

  • Assist Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) operators’ requesting financial counselling with a financial analysis consisting of annual, or year in year out cash flow budget, Statement of Assets and Liabilities, Cash flow analysis and options for business improvement;
  • Provide clients with access to financial information, options, decision support and referrals to other sources of industry, professional and government assistance to develop longer term strategies and plans to improve preparedness and resilience to drought and other climate variabilities;
  • Empower clients to make their own decisions on how to most effectively manage change and adjustment issues;
  • Refer operators to a network of professional service providers for advice with legal, accounting and financial planning and investment matters and social and welfare matters

As the Small Business Financial Counsellors for Townsville, Gerard Byrne (Townsville Consulting Services) can provide free financial counselling to non-rural business operators who are suffering financial hardship and assist them to manage the challenges presented by the current environmental and ongoing economic conditions.
