THHS Logo BannerThe Townsville Hospital and Health Service has increased its capacity to support people continuing to experience mental health impacts from February’s catastrophic flooding event.

Specifically, THHS now have additional clinical resources to support members of the community who were affected by the floods and continue to exhibit ongoing mental health impacts.

The team will provide trauma-focussed therapy, brief interventions and community development and will eb available for training for any agencies involved in supporting people during the recovery.

The service supports members of the community across the age spectrum and has the capacity to ensure culturally safe care through inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers within the team. The Disaster Recovery Team will take referrals from any agency or directly from members of the public.

The new service can be contacted by calling (07) 4433 8378 or emailing [email protected] or via fax 4433 8101. It can also be accessed via the normal referral pathways.
