Townsville is preparing for major economic growth, but local businesses are already feeling the pressure. Rising operating costs, limited housing and workforce shortages are making it harder to recruit staff, remain profitable and prepare for the opportunities ahead.
Speaking with the Townsville Bulletin, Chamber CEO Emma Peters called for stronger local procurement, practical responses to housing shortages, continued CBD revitalisation and greater recognition of the higher costs faced by regional businesses. The Chamber will keep pushing to ensure Townsville businesses have a genuine opportunity to benefit from the city’s growth.
